What have we been up to?

So besides the fun of travels and being in Europe, regular life and work does have to go on. So, what have we been up to? The kids are involved in all sorts of activites. This should come as no surprise if you followed our life in Arizona.

Andrew decided he wanted to join boy scouts this year. He is enrolled in a British Beaver Scout troop. The troop is the 1st Bury Beaver Scouts and it is one of the longest running troops in England. He is working on earning different badges and will have a campout with the troup next month. I guess I will be sewing badges onto his uniform and other fun projects.

He is also busy playing soccer. He plays on the school club which practices every week and they have occassional games against other local elementary schools. He also plays indoor soccer at the base. That one is a short fall season and will be over in a few weeks. The picture is at the base gym where they play.

Emily takes a ballet class at the base, but will stop in December. After the holidays she is going to switch to a local gymnasics class. She loves to dance and really looks forward to her class. Her school schedule is changing in January and she will go to school in the mornings for the second half of the year.

I have been busy being a taxi service... among other things.

Tory has been crazy busy with work getting ready for the squadron deployment. It has meant lots of long hours and training. We have been fortunate that he has had weekends off so he can see the kids' sports and we can do some exploring around. We have enjoyed the days he has had off - Veteran's Day the kids were both in school so we went into Cambridge for the day and wandered around and had Sushi. It was a nice date with my favorite veteran.

Somehow I have managed to fill my days...I still try to get out and explore on Wednesdays, although lately it has consisted of Christmas shopping and mailing packages. We have a weekly girls coffee and usually a squadron event of some type. I go to the gym (although I am seriously missing Lifetime back in AZ), walk Maggie, and visit with friends.  I do some volunteer things with the Officer's Spouses group -- need to bake 4 dozen cookies this week!  Emily and I hang out in the mornings until school time and she always wants to help with projects and do crafts. I have been trying to get my scrapbooks and photos caught up, and we got a Mac so I have been trying to re-learn how to use it since its been since the 90s that we had one last. I feel like a full-time travel planner around here as well. Emily will start school here full time next year, so I will be thinking about my work options down the road too. Not sure yet what will come of it here in England, but I am still keeping up my continuing education for my social work license so I have some options at least.

Ok... I think that basically catches everyone up with our activities.  And here is a recent family picture in our very own backyard.
