What a week.....

What started as a great week has just deteriorated rapidly. We are approaching the mid-point of Tory's deployment and (despite the usual craziness) time seems to be moving much slower than it was a few weeks ago.

My dad and Elizabeth were in town for a few days so we enjoyed hanging out with them and I was able to get my babysitter to watch Andrew and Emily so I could escape for a night out too. It went down hill from there.

When Tory is home and Andrew is sick (like throwing up sick) I usually get the "cuddle up Andrew" job and Tory gets the not so fun job of changing sheets and cleaning carpets. Well with no Tory I had the luxury of doing all those things from 11pm until 4:30 the next morning. When Tory left my one rule was "no one can vomit". That rule is apparently now out the window. Andrew was just miserable. I was exhausted. Fortunately Emily slept through it all. It meant being homebound the next two days, trying to catch up on sleep and laundry and making sure Andrew was okay.

Then I looked forward all week to using the "Give Parents A Break" childcare they have for deployed families at the base. It only happens once a month so its a nice break for 6 hours and the kids love it. Well I called to sign up and they told me "sorry its full". I was so annoyed. There has never been a limit on how many kids can attend and this month for whatever reason they have staffing issues and can only take a few kids. AHHHHHH!!!! Of all weeks.

So I guess the kids and I will have a weekend of excitement all together (can you sense my excitement of this prospect??). Andrew has started soccer and his first game is tomorrow morning. I'll escape to the gym for a few hours... even if just to shower in silence while they are in the childcare area. And we'll see some friends and let the kids play. The usual stuff. There just will not be 6 hours of kid-free music in the car, relaxing pedicures, and time to actually read a book without pictures...... but maybe next month.
