Hood canal sunshine

Its time for some pictures of our trip to Washington. I spent almost three weeks up on Hood Canal with the kids. Tory came for a long weekend on each end and we timed the trip to coincide with his annual family reunion. It was very un-Washington like weather -- record high temperatures for a few of the days I was there and not a cloud in sight the entire time. We played on the water, road the jet ski and boat, dug clams and oysters, played outside and had a nice visit with friends and family.

The kids (and adults too) swam more than I have ever seen in that usually freezing water. The kids jumped off the floating dock and the porch railing and really played outside most of the day and into the evening. Tory's grandpa will be 90 next year and he even jumped off the porch railing and was out there in the water and boat.

I spent a few days visiting friends on Bainbridge Island, went into Seattle to the market and aquarium, went to the zoo, and went back to the college where Tory and I went to school.

It was a great end to summer and fun for everyone. The kids are so much easier to travel with this year -- it is amazing the difference a year makes in their ability to travel well and adjust to different schedules and places.
