We are into the final days of the move. An update:
Our house has sold and we are moved out completely. The new owners were hoping to partially move in this weekend. Last week was the final madness of getting out of the house, storage stuff packed up and loaded, and doing a final cleaning of the house. In a blur we were out and the papers were signed. The only house we have known with the kids is no longer ours.
So, we are officially homeless... probably a good thing since we won't see our household goods until the first week of August. Until then we have 8 suitcases, 5 carry-on bags, and a dog crate to sustain us. We are fortunate to be staying at a friend's house while they are out of town this week.
I had a long mental list of things we would do 'one more time' before we moved. I must say that not much has been crossed off that list. Between the move necessities we have crammed in squadron and base farewells, swim team and other summer activities, and this weekend spent the two days at a local resort. It was a great time hanging out with wonderful friends. This week Andrew will have his final swim meet, Emily has two days of gymnastics camp, Tory has his fini-flight and we have lots of odds and ends and paperwork to get done. Tory is still working and trying to get his out-processing done at the base. The holiday weekend right before we go makes the timing of some things a little challenging.
Despite the seemingly crazy situations and never ending process of an international move, the process has gone fairly smooth. The kids are both doing great and enjoying summer vacation and we are all for the most part unscathed thus far. I am hoping that the unravelling does not start once we land on the other side of the pond.
