End of summer exploring

We tried to fill the final weeks before school with some fun things for the kids, so we headed out to explore a few areas around England.
Two hours from us is Legoland. We spent two days at the park and we all loved it. Emily was tall enough for all the rides this time and we enjoyed all being able to go on the rides together instead of one of us sitting out with one of them. And since we have a house of Lego fanatics the mini land exhibits, huge displays and even larger Lego store were all a hit.

We spent another day exploring the city of Windsor. We went through Windsor Castle, walked along the river, went up in the Windsor Ferris Wheel and the kids ran through a park puzzle and maze.

Windsor castle and the changing of the guard out front.

During the week (while Tory worked) I drove west about 2-1/2 hours into the Midlands to visit my aunt and cousin. We went to the Severn River Railway and rode on the steam train, explored the train museum, had lunch and then rode back. It was a fun day and the kids loved the trains. Andrew still is a huge train fan, so this was a perfect day for him. The train looks like a model train in the picture, but it really is a functioning train that was restored completely by local volunteers.

The old red phone booths are getting harder to find, but this was a nice example of one in good condition. There are few around us in the small villages as well, but not as many as I remember seeing when I was here in 1994.

We may all have to come for a visit so we can take Gregory to Legoland! It looks like you've made some great memories and are getting settled very nicely.
